Liberty Hill Labrador Retrievers has been breeding litters of quality Labrador retriever puppies once or twice a year since 1989. Liberty Hill is a small kennel - all dogs are house dogs, puppies are born in my den, and reared underfoot in the kitchen until they go to their new homes. Because I can only breed occasionally, I breed very selectively, and only to produce a quality of puppy that I would keep myself. My goal is to continue to improve the breed by breeding my best to the best.

Temperament, intelligence and soundness are the most important qualities I breed for, because most of my puppies are placed as family pets. Since I live with anywhere from eight to ten dogs in the house at one time, my goal is a Labrador Retriever who is calm in the house, but up for some fun when we go outside. My Labradors are social butterflies. My gang barks to alert me to strangers, but love to schmooze with visitors once they are in the house.
The style of Labrador retriever I prefer is the "English" type - blocky and substantial. I also require good movement because I expect my dogs to be able to perform effectively in the field. Liberty Hill Labradors have done very well in the show ring, winning both at all-breed shows and Labrador retriever specialty shows.

My dogs are checked for orthopedic soundness (OFA/PennHip) and are Optigen tested before being bred. I only breed my females to males who are clear of orthopedic problems and have been Optigen tested. My puppies are sold on a contract and with a health guarantee. Pet puppies are sold on a limited AKC registration, which allows the puppy to participate in all AKC events except conformation shows, but prevents off-spring of the puppy from being registered. This is to prevent my puppies from being bred unless they have met the standards to which I hold my own breeding dogs.
I occasionally donate a Labrador retriever puppy to Fidos for Freedom, where Emma is now in training as a service dog. This is a wonderful not-for-profit organization that has enriched the lives of many deserving disabled individuals through the gift of a service dog.
Please feel free to contact me at Liberty Hill Labrador Retrievers for more information.

Trivia note: The name "Liberty Hill" refers to the section of Asheville, North Carolina, where I was living 20 years ago when I got my first Lab, Jessie. Liberty Hill’s Jessica went on to become my foundation bitch, although at the time I never dreamed I'd still be breeding Liberty Hill Labradors 20 years later. Back then I was just looking for a hiking buddy. It's amazing where a good dog can take you.
Liberty Hill Labrador Retrievers provides quality Labs for show, hunting, agility and family companions.
